Confused by high pressure, low pressure, swivel spout, 3/4" and 1/4 turn?
Just take a moment to read the advice on this page. It really couldn’t be easier.
Low pressure systems tend to generate between 0.1 and 0.2 bar pressure. Some of the taps we sell operate at these pressures. Look out for the following in the product summary:
- Ideal Minimum Pressure
- Plumbing Restrictions
The low pressure gravity fed system is the most common household plumbing system.
High pressure systems tend to generate between 0.5 and 2 bar pressure. Some of the taps we sell operate at these pressures. Look out for the following in the product summary:
- Ideal Minimum Pressure
- Plumbing Restrictions
1/4 turn valves require only a 90 degree turn to go from the closed position to the open position. Most modern taps employ quarter turn valves over the
traditional 10/10 compression valves which require several full turns to fully open.
These are available in both 1/2" and 3/4" sizes.
Traditional 10/10 compression valves require several full turns to fully open. These are rarely used in modern taps due to the use of the more favourable 1/4" turn valve.
These are available in both 1/2" and 3/4" sizes.
Ceramic Disc Valves are extremely durable. Taps that use the CDVs are more likely to last the full guarantee period.
British Standard is 180mm between the center of each pillar/leg for bath fillers and bath shower mixers
Pre-cut baths are cut this way to enable the use of all bath shower mixers that comply with the British Standard.
This obviously doesn't cover the use of 3/4/5 hole bath sets.
All taps connections are either 1/2" or 3/4". Mono basins come with 1/2" flexi hoses.
These sizes are British Standard. All taps are designed to comply with this standard so are plug and play fitment.
Some taps are designed to allow the spout to swivel. This is useful if you have a small sink that you wish to use for close facial washing. A lot of
kitchen taps are designed this way to allow movement of the spout between 2 or 3 areas of the sink.
